How to Pay the SEVIS Fee from Bangladesh in 2026

Bangladesh sends a growing number of students to the United States each year. If you are applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa in 2026, you must pay the I-901 SEVIS fee before your visa interview at the US Embassy Dhaka. The fee is $350 for F-1 students and $220 for J-1 exchange visitors.

Challenges for Bangladeshi Applicants

Bangladesh Bank's foreign exchange regulations mean many local debit cards cannot make international USD payments. This makes direct payment on fmjfee.com difficult for most students.

Your Best Options

  • SEVISMate (Easiest): Pay in BDT via bKash, Nagad, Rocket, or bank transfer. We submit to DHS for you.
  • Dutch-Bangla Bank Nexus Card: Some DBBL Nexus cards support international payments — try enabling this in the DBBL app.
  • BRAC Bank or City Bank USD Card: If you have a USD account or prepaid card, load $360 and pay directly.

Current BDT Rate

$350 USD is approximately ৳38,000–৳40,000 BDT at current 2026 rates.

Embassy Dhaka Processing Time

The US Embassy in Dhaka typically requires SEVIS fee confirmation before the interview. Submit your payment at least 5 business days before your appointment.
